The Thompson, it can be said, was the first ever sub machine gun, not because it was the first of it's type but due to the fact that its inventor, General John T Thompson invented the term "Sub Machine Gun". With the start of WW2 the Army finally recognized the need for submachine guns. It also recognized that the Thompson was already obsolete. Compared to German submachine guns, the Tommy Gun was heavier, more complex and costlier to produce. But it did have one major advantage that the Army couldn't ignore. The M1928A1 Thompson was the only submachine gun being mass produced in any Allied country. This alone gave it a huge advantage over any would-be competitors, as seen in Back To Batann.

The M11/9mm version of the Ingram submachine gun series. Also known as the M11 long, it is similar to the earlier M11 .380 ACP but has a much longer receiver and other slight design changes to make it better to use. It uses plastic Zytel magazines instead of the metal ones used in earlier Ingram's. A compact "room-sweeper" for CQB situations, as seen in Mc.Q.

The M16 has been the main infantry and Special Forces weapon of the United States, as well as over two dozen western countries, for almost three decades. It is the rifle that others are compared against. It was first used in Vietnam. The A2 variant was introduced in the late 1970's. It has an increased barrel diameter, and the rifling is changed from 1:12 to 1:7 to accommodate the new round developed by Belgium's Fabrique National. This round extended the range of the rifle, and propelled a 62gr bullet with a steel core at over 3000 fps. The rear sight was modified to allow more accurate adjustments of wind-age by hand, as well as for elevation calibrated out to 800 meters, as seen in The Green Berets.

Five generations of the Greener family have been making the finest shot guns and rifles since 1829. Founded by William Greener and made famous by his son William Wellington Greener the company continues to make the very best English guns with Graham Greener, fifth generation. Damascus barrels, weight 7¼ lbs. pull 14 inch, barrels 30 inch - Stock# 24198. John used a pair of Greener's similar to this one in Big Jake he also used one in Cahill U.S Marshal.

His Revolver in his later westerns was a model 1873 Peacemaker .45 calibre with the short barrel, his pistol was distinctive in that he used off white more on the yellowish side bone grips in place of the standard dark wooden grips. This is the best likeness I can come up with, this picture was supplied by Ermal Williamson The John Wayne look a like.
